Notifications and Emails in ClearHire
Notifications in ClearHire are the ways the app tells you about activity on your own account — in-app messages inside the product, optional push notifications on your device or browser, and a small set of transactional emails. All three are about your own account activity; none of them are marketing.
In-app notifications
In-app notifications appear inside ClearHire and cover your own activity, including:
- Application status changes as you move through the stages in application tracking.
- Employment-verification results when an employer confirms a role or a request times out — see employment verification.
- Reviews tied to your verified employment — see company reviews.
- Forum replies, messages, follows and endorsements from the community side of the product.
- System announcements — see below.
They are generated as these events happen and are visible whenever you are signed in.
System announcements
Occasionally ClearHire needs to tell everyone something — a provider outage, a window that has been paused, a change worth knowing about before you notice it yourself. Those arrive as an announcement, which reaches you two ways at once: as an in-app notification, and by email.
How loud an announcement is decides how it behaves, and there are three settings:
| Severity | What it does |
|---|---|
| Notice | Appears in your notifications and nowhere else |
| Important | Raises a band at the top of every page, which you can dismiss |
| Urgent | Raises a band you cannot dismiss; it leaves when you open it or when a later announcement replaces it |
Announcements are sent by ClearHire staff, are recorded in an audit log with the address of whoever sent them, and cannot be recalled once they have gone out — a later announcement can supersede one, but the first is already delivered. They are never marketing: an announcement is about the product working or not working.
Push notifications (opt-in)
Push notifications are optional and off by default. You can turn them on for your device or browser in Notification Settings, and turn them off again at any time. ClearHire works fully without push — it is a convenience for hearing about activity while the app is closed, not a requirement.
ClearHire's push is receive-only, and that is worth being precise about. Your device subscribes; what arrives is composed by the ClearHire team rather than generated automatically for every event. So push is a way of hearing about something important while the app is closed — it is not a second copy of every in-app notification, and turning it off costs you nothing you would not also see the next time you open the product.
Transactional emails
ClearHire sends a few transactional emails tied to specific actions:
- Welcome email when you first sign in.
- Contact-form reply routing when you message the team.
- Account-deletion confirmation after you delete your account.
- Identity-verification result when your verification is decided.
ClearHire does not send marketing or promotional email, and there is no newsletter.
What notifications do not do
- They do not share your activity with anyone else. Notifications are about your own account.
- Push is not required. Every feature works whether or not you enable push.
- Emails are transactional only. No marketing, no newsletter, no selling your address.

What can I get in-app notifications about?
Application-status changes, employment-verification results, reviews tied to your verified employment, and occasional admin announcements.
Do I need push to use ClearHire?
