Moving from Reactive Resume to ClearHire
Reactive Resume: An open-source resume builder under the MIT licence, free to use or self-host, exporting PDF, Word, Markdown and JSON. This page is the practical half: what carries across, in what order, and where it stops.
Who should stay, and who should move
Choose Reactive Resume if you want to run the builder on your own server and keep every byte under your control.
Choose ClearHire if you want HTML and XML beside the other formats, a job board, and a countersigned role on the page.
Steps
- Get your words out of Reactive Resume. Reactive Resume’s pages say it downloads a Word file, which is the easiest thing to copy from; its pages also list a PDF download; it lists a data export too.
- Sign in to ClearHire with Google. That is the only sign-in, and the quick start takes it from there.
- Type your roles into your profile, once. ClearHire has no importer, so this part is by hand. Create your profile lists the sections; every resume after this draws from them.
- Build the resume. Build your first resume covers the template and the sections.
- Ask each company to confirm the role. This is the step with no Reactive Resume equivalent to copy. Request employment verification says what the company sees and how long it has.
- Export and open the file. Export as PDF or DOCX has the troubleshooting.
- Keep your Reactive Resume account until that file opens properly. Then decide. Nothing here needs you to close it.
What we checked
Every row was read on Reactive Resume’s own pages on 7 November 2026. A page that did not say gets “not stated”, never “no”. Open Reactive Resume’s site and check us.

Where ClearHire falls short
- Only resumes leave in six formats. A resume exports as PDF, Word, JSON, HTML, Markdown or XML. Cover letters copy out as plain text, and a portfolio has no export.
- Free exports name us. A resume exported on Free carries one “built with” line. Paid plans remove it.
- There is no career path on your record. The roadmap and skills-gap pages are reading, not a plan kept for you.
- A company’s answer about a person stays private. Only that person and the company’s admins can read it.
FAQ
Can ClearHire import my Reactive Resume data?
No. ClearHire has no importer, so anything you bring across is typed in or pasted.
Do I have to pay to try this?
No. Free is a plan and it does not end. Paid plans raise the limits.
